Halloween Show and Showjumping 23/10/22

The second Sport Horse SW event went down a treat last weekend. We again were lucky to have the use to the fantastic facilities on offer at Colraine Equestrain Centre by kind permission of Michael and Corin Gadson. The Cornwall arena held our 5 unaffiliated showjumping classes, and the showing classes were held in the indoor arena.

Carol Masters was the judge for the showing section, the competitors gave great feedback on her kind approach. It was great to see the classes so well supported. An amazing selection of horses from a beautiful black shetland pony to a 17h shire mare who took part in both showing and the jumping classes.

The Champion went to Obaldy a 3yo owned by Celena Wolfe and bred by Adam Ellery of Westcountry Sports horses. Obaldy won the 1,2,3 year old class and then went on to take the championship. With names like Eldorado Van zoesk and Lupicor in this young horses breeding there is no doubt he will excel in any performance discipline, and be a seriously competitive Intermediate show hunter.

Reserve Champion went to Izzy ... and her pony.... who wowed the judges in the working hunter and took the win. He had a fantastic attitude to his jumping and carried Izzy around with a smile on his face. Izzy is an active member of the local ponyclub attending lots of rallies, camps and local competitions.

Up in the outdoor arena we had another wonderful course built by Helena Ellery, starting at 40cm it was extremely inviting and flowing to encourage even the tiniest of riders and ponies around the track. Judging was Danielle bunt who manned the judges box, timing equipment and microphone from start to finish!!

The 40cm started at 10am and was fantastic to see the young horses/riders out enjoying the incredible facilities Colraine has to offer. it was won by .... and her pony..., 2nd was ....... and 3rd .....
